One of the neighbors, Chris Heinrichs, told the Port Charlotte Foundation that he saw a man in the backyard. He was wet with blood flowing from his right arm. The man was kneeling down and trying to put on a child-sized boxing glove. Hinrichs approached the man, he yelled, “What are you doing in my house? I’m calling the police.”
The suspect answered: “Please don’t.”
As it turned out, Cole is being held without bond for violating parole. He was no stranger to local law enforcement either. In fact, he has a history of drug abuse and had been arrested over 20 times.

Crystal Stone who is representing Khyler’s family, shared that the circumstances of the teenager’s death have revealed his true character. In an interview with WINK, she said, “There is no hero that can amount to Khyler. He loved his family. He was his sister’s keeper.”
In his obituary, Kyler was a member of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps. He loved nature. He was also a member of the Florida Gators and played bumper at a nearby amusement park.
In an interview with CNN, Mike Riley, a spokesman for Charlotte Public Schools, said that Kyler was involved in a number of outstanding studies and “showed his community how to be a hero by dedicating his life to saving his little sister.”
The tragedy occurred in a city in southwest Florida on the Gulf of Mexico with a population of nearly 55,000 people. Friends, classmates, and family remember the high school sophomore as a great hero. During the candlelight, over 100 people sang “Awesome Grace” and lit a sky lantern for Hayler Edman.
