If the constant changes in weather isn’t enough to keep people tuning in for the next forecast, a meteorologist for Channel 5 weather in the United Kingdom decided to use the Force to influence her viewers. Sian Welby, who does the weather for Channel 5, did the below forecast on Dec. 16, 2015, in preparation for the release of the new “Star Wars” movie that hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
Welby creatively worked at least eight different references to various “Star Wars” movies into her forecast. She began with “… Luke farther to the west,” and progressed to “… If you’re Wookie.” “The weather strikes back; … It will be on the dark side;” and ” … far, far away on the south side” were all surreptitiously woven into her report on the U.K.’s weather.
Welby, according to Wikipedia, is a native of Nottingham, England, and has been with Channel 5 since November 2010, although now she is a resident of London. With Welby’s unique approach to delivering something as mundane as the weather, the Emperor had better watch out for her. She may decide to join the Jedi and use her “mind trick” to keep her viewers from joining the dark side.
