A man who likes nothing more than napping with his local neighbourhood sanctuary cats has stolen hearts on the internet. Retired Spanish teacher Terry Lauerman visits Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary in Wisconsin daily to take care of his favourite feline friends. ‘We are so lucky to have a human like Terry’ Equipped with his own grooming brush, the cat lover not only soothes the animals – but often falls asleep. Thanks to his dedication to the job, the Sanctuary decided to create a post thanking Terry for all of his work – and posted some adorable snaps to match. “We are so lucky to have a human like Terry. Terry just came along one day and introduced himself,” the cat sanctuary wrote in a Facebook post. “He said he’d like to brush cats. Eventually it became everyday. He brushes all of the cats, and can tell you about all of their likes and dislikes. He also accidentally falls asleep most days. We don’t mind – Cats need this! Terry is a wonderful volunteer,” they added.

One of Terry’s favourite positions (Safe Haven Cat Sanctuary) “And I didn’t have cats as an adult. But when I retired I decided to do something fun and this place emerged. I had been volunteering at other shelters, but this place is special because no cages and the cats can feel taken care of in a friendly environment.” Although Terry is clearly dedicated to his job, he doesn’t understand all of the fuss over his pictures –

but he hopes that they at least raise the shelter some money. “I just fell asleep!” he joked. “Yesterday, when I told him he hit 400,000 views he said he hoped all those people would donate,” Feldhausen said. “I kept telling him, ‘Terry, you’re famous,’ and he would just do his modest laugh and go back to petting cats,” she said.
