Philomena Begley has quite an interesting history into how exactly she found herself a career as a professional singer. On a dare, she got up onstage with a popular Irish band and started to sing with them.

Instead of being knocked out by the security guards, the band was so impressed with her heartbreaking voice that they asked her to stay with them. They eventually went on to release three records and finally managed to make their first big hit song in 1970 by the name of “Here Today, Gone Tomorrow.”

By the mid 1970s, Begley was touring the United States and impressing everyone with the somber sounds from the old country. The folky twang of her Irish song is sure to touch your soul!

This Irish woman had the incredibly ability to break the hearts of everyone who listened to her. And once you hear her beautiful rendition of the hit Phil Coulter song “Gold and Silver Days,” you’ll easily understand why she got to be so popular!

Since those early days, she’s toured the world, played on the hallowed stage of the Grand Ole Opry, and she’s even been a celebrated guest of honor at the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade!

The song itself brings up feelings of nostalgia of those gold and silver days gone by. While those days may be long gone —now only memories — it’s always fun to reminisce about those simpler times! The crowd just absolutely loved her stunning voice, she’s so soothing to listen to!

Please SHARE this beautiful song if you remember the good old days!
