When Gladys Knight and The Pips came out with their 1973 hit single “Midnight Train to Georgia,” they had no idea they were placing themselves into the legendary status of unforgettable musicians. The song, written in an almost country music style of the ’70s, follows the story of a failed musician who plans on going back home to his native Georgia and how his love will come along with him on the ride.
