The young singers at Staten Island’s PS22 Chorus decided to surprise one of their teachers in the most heartwarming and tearful way.

Get out the Kleenex, because this is one emotional roller coaster ride. The students chose Martina McBride’s Grammy-nominated anthem, “I’m Gonna Love You Through It,” for their teacher, Adriana Lopez.

The song is as moving as Cyndi Lauper and Sara Bareilles’ duet about children battling the illness.

Lopez was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and the song poignantly captures the struggle and adversity of surviving cancer.

“When you feel lost and scared to death, like you can’t take one more step, just take my hand, together we can do it — I’m gonna love you through it,” the tiny fifth graders sing.

Lopez fights to hold the tears back but eventually surrenders to the heavy emotions, wiping the tears away with a crumbled up tissues.

The students hold up pink flowers as a symbol for her upcoming fight with breast cancer.

“I want to thank you for this special moment,” she said. “It’s not easy, but I will get through it because I have wonderful friends at this school.”

Whether you know someone with cancer or have fought the battle yourself, or even if you’ve only ever read about the illness in the news, this video will inevitably stir up an emotional response.

We wish Lopez the best of luck!
