With Halloween just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about how you’re going to pull together this year’s spook ‘em all Halloween costume. (I know, I know — we still have a month…but as the old adage goes, the early bird get the worm.)

But this year, rather than going as Jack Skellington orCaptain Jack Sparrow (which also works as a Keith Richards, incidentally), why not try something new? How about going as a comic book heroine or a pop art painting a la Roy Lichtenstein? YouTube makeup artist Emma Pickles has the perfect one — the best part being that you needn’t shell out a ton of money for an expensive outfit.

What you’ll need for this costume is a black liquid liner, a light makeup or face paint, a bright purple (or block color) eye shadow, a set of fake lashes (she suggests, a white eye liner, red face paint, and red lipstick. You’ll also need a brush for application, but that’s about it.

And if you really want to step up your look, try a temporary yellow hair spray and follow her instructions toward the end of the video. And BAM! Your comic book or pop art costume is ready to go!
