If somehow you had all the money you could ever have dreamed of, would you spend it all on yourself, or would you give it away? One wealthy man in red, who has kept his identity anonymous for years, uses his good fortune to help others every Christmas. Each year, the man goes around giving out a whopping $100,000 worth of $100 bills around the country.

He doesn’t want the credit, just to see the warm and smiling faces of all he helps. The mysterious man is somewhat of a legend. “I’ve heard about him. Never thought I’d ever see him,” said one woman. The man goes to shelters, thrift stores, and food pantries to help those who really need it. He calls himself a real-life Secret Santa — we’ve seen benefactors like this before, but on a much smaller scale. While getting a surprise wad of cash is pretty stunning, most regard the gesture as a restoration of faith in humanity. “No, it’s not the money. It’s not the money,” said recipient, Lilly Thomas.

“My hope is that by doing this, millions of people see it and millions of people act on it. You don’t have to have any money. It can be a kind word, a good deed — anybody can be a Secret Santa,” said the man of mystery.
