When Destinee Martin found out she was pregnant, she couldn’t wait to tell her mom. The thing was, her mom, Heather Penticoff, also had exciting news: She was pregnant too. The mother and daughter found out they were pregnant on the same day and then that they had the exact same delivery date. The two women considered themselves lucky to experience the joy of pregnancy together. In November of 2014, doctors felt it was time to induce labor in the pair at the very same time. It’s as strange a coincidence as the identical twin sisters who gave birth just hours apart!
“It’s over emotional, it’s awesome. It’s a blessing. I don’t think I could’ve been any luckier,” said Heather, who gave birth first to a baby girl named Madeline. Then 46 minutes later, Madeline’s nephew, baby Damien was born. “It’s like having twins without carrying twins,” she said. While it may not have been the way the two mothers expected this to happen, it goes without saying that having another mother around is always rewarding, but when that other mother is your mom, that’s pretty wonderful too.
“To have my mom going through it with me is probably the most special, amazing thing ever,” added Destinee.
