It’s every parent’s greatest fear: One minute, your baby girl is right in front of you — and the next, she’s seemingly vanished into thin air.

That was the horrific, gut-wrenching experience had by a Lancaster, PA woman shortly before her 5-year-old daughter, Jocelyn Rojas, disappeared from the family’s front yard. All that was left behind was the little girl’s tiny pink purse. “It’s something you don’t wish on anybody,” the girl’s mother told ABC News in the video below. “Horrible, horrible thoughts flash through my mind.”

She immediately notified the authorities and an area-wide search ensued as police combed the area for the abducted child.

MSNBC reports that 15-year-old Temar Boggs and his friend Chris Garcia heard the little girl had gone missing and decided to pursue the kidnapper themselves. After nearly two hours of combing the area by bike, they identified a vehicle — inside, a child who appeared to be little Jocelyn was riding in the passenger seat. For 15 harrowing minutes, the two teens pursued the vehicle, until it abruptly stopped and pushed the child out of the side of the car.

“She ran to me and said that she needed her mom,” Temar told ABC News. The two teens returned her safely to her mother, who expressed incredible gratitude.

When they asked this heroic teen whether pursuing a potentially armed and dangerous man on his bike was terrifying, he told MSNBC News, “I wasn’t scared. I was just [thinking], ‘Save the little girl, make sure she was okay.’ ”
