When Samantha Johnson performed her audition on America’s Got Talent just weeks ago, she hadn’t even finished her song before she received a standing ovation. Taking the stage for a second time, it’s clearer now that she’s got a bright future ahead of her.

During her audition, she performed Aretha Franklin‘s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.” She looked nervous on stage, telling judge Heidi Klum that the AGT audience was the largest for whom she’d ever performed. But taking the stage most recently for her cover of Sam Smith‘s popular “Lay Me Down,” she appears confident in her ability to knock it out of the park — and she does.

Cheered on by her father in the audience, the 26-year-old songstress gives the ballad a touch of femininity. Even before she begins the bridge, Samantha receives a huge eruption of praise from the audience. “Sing!” yells judge Neil Patrick Harris with a smile of approval. And “Lay Me Down” gave her the perfect opportunity to show the range of her incredible voice. She’s not even finished with the last note of her song before the crowd goes wild, even putting Heidi Klum on her feet, saying, “Wow.” We can’t wait to see what’s in store for this talented performer!
