We’d be petrified if a scan showed an embryonic twin lying down in our heads but Yamini Karanam, 26, seemed just fine.

Even the fact it had teeth and hair didn’t creep her out.

Her joy was probably down to relief after doctors initially thought she had a brain tumour.

‘(It was the) evil twin sister who’s been torturing me for the past 26 years,’ she told NBC Los Angeles.

The PhD student from Indiana University had been having trouble with speech and reading but after the removal of the teratoma, her condition should improve.
