Growing up with Irish immigrant grandparents, St. Patrick’s Day was one of the biggest days of the year in my family. Special traditions like the parade, the music, the dancing, and the food make March 17th fun for people from all backgrounds, but for people of true Irish heritage, it’s an especially wonderful celebration of culture and togetherness.

One thing that many people don’t realize about the Feast of St. Patrick is that it is not just celebrated in Ireland and the United States. People everywhere from Germany to Tokyo don their green on St. Paddy’s — and, as you’ll see in the following video, it’s huge in Australia, too!

While New York City definitely has the biggest celebration worldwide, Irish dancers in Sydney, Australia decided to put on a great show for commuters at always busy Central Railway Station. In the following video, a young boy in black steps his way into the middle of the shuffling travelers and starts dancing to some traditional Irish music.

Moments later, it’s clear he was not alone in planning the amazing surprise. In just a few minutes, the Sydney station was transformed into a scene from Riverdance for a truly once in a lifetime show.

How amazing would it be to catch this surprise on St. Paddy’s Day?! If you enjoyed this flash mob, please SHARE our post on Facebook with all of your friends!
