Oiginally written and sung by country singer Dolly Parton, the song “I Will Always Love You” gained international fame when it was sung by the late pop superstar Whitney Houston for the film, “The Bodyguard.” Houston’s version not only hit number one on Billboard’s Top 100 list, but eventually also ended up becoming one of the best-selling singles of all time. Referencing a breakup between a man and a woman, the song’s inclusion on The Bodyguard soundtrack has only enhanced its romantic reputation.

However, Lin Yu-chun, a former contestant on the Taiwanese talent show “One Million Star,” sang the song in tribute to his grandmother who had cared for him growing up. Though he was voted off the show, a video of his song has since gone viral on YouTube, reaching upwards of 10 million views. As a result, it has turned Lin into a star and even earned him a bid on “The Voice: China.”
