An 80-year-old man named James was recently on his way home when the battery in his motorized scooter died. It was a hot summer day, and the elderly man had no way of getting home. That’s when a policeman did something incredible.
Fort Pierce Officer Moises Costa decided to take hold of James’ scooter and push him all the way home, trekking a half mile under the hot and humid sun. While on the way to James’ door step, a passerby noticed the scene unfolding and was so touched that she recorded it on her camera. After posting the video online, it garnered more than 10,000 views in 24 hours.
A few days later, the kindhearted cop went to visit James, who’s eternally grateful to the officer for going above and beyond, and helping him get home safely.
As it turns out, Costa is still a rookie in law enforcement. He says it’s moments like this that inspired him to become a police officer in the first place. “It gives me motivation to keep on because that’s what I signed up for,” he says. “That’s why I want to be in law enforcement — to help people in our community.”
With all the negative headlines surrounding police officers these days, it’s so refreshing to see those men and women who dedicate themselves to serving and protecting. Please SHARE this video with your friends on Facebook!
