This little boy, Miles, was convinced that he looked exactly like all the boys in his class. He was so sure of this that he told his mother again and again, demanding that Taner and I dress the same for the twins’ day off.
At first, her mother, Britney Tankersley, was a bit skeptical about the idea. Who was the girl in this class? How could he contact his mother and negotiate? Where was she going to find the perfect clothes?
“He went on to say that they look exactly the same. Britney wrote on her Facebook page: “We have two brown eyes and black hair,” he said sternly. “So I went to Walmart and got upset. I think it’s already too late. I’m too old for this.”
Even though Britney was irritated though, she still stuck by Myles like the fabulous mother that she is and went through with what she initially thought was a confusing idea.
First, she spent some time — around an hour — tracking down Tanner’s mother. After that, she finally headed to the store at 9 p.m. — a Walmart near their Alabama home.
At the store, to her surprise, she found two cute matching button-down flannel shirts in the boys’ sizes that said, “Future Leader.”
When Twin Day came around, Britney had Myles’ teacher send her a photograph of the result of all her late-night hard work and she was absolutely stunned.
“Their teacher sent me this picture today. My heart melted. Obviously two very different children, but Myles didn’t see that. Wouldn’t the world be such a better place if we could all view it through the eyes of a couple five-year-olds?” she wrote.
After taking a moment to process the photo, she began to cry.
“I was basically crying because it was so sweet. Obviously, I know that they don’t look alike at all. But he didn’t see that, you know? I expect to get a picture of another white child with light skin and brown hair, whatever, but I didn’t get that at all. And I said, ‘That is the sweetest thing in the whole world.’”
Her Facebook page, which explains the whole story with cute pictures of the twins, quickly went viral with over 510,000 likes and 50,000 comments.
“This is so crazy,” he said. My goal is to never be the center of attention, but I think that’s more important than how much the message blows up.”
Britney is absolutely right. This is a very important message to spread and we are very happy that they are improving their knowledge with the help of their son.
“Kids are great! It can be seen that you have a very kind and loving boy,” wrote a friendly stranger in the video. “I am in tears,” she said. This is a real MAN! We can all learn a lesson… we will remember the time when we were innocent and had no idea what friends should/could be! I love them all. ”
Love is blind! Thanks to Miles for proving it!
