Cage has been married five times in his personal life, some of which have been quite tumultuous. Relationships don’t always last long in Hollywood, and celebrities usually get married more than two or three times. Cage even had a marriage that only lasted four days!

In 1995, actress Patricia Arquette proposed to Cage, “wearing a head-to-toe black vinyl dress and holding a large purple wedding cake.” The couple divorced in 2001, six years later, despite their obvious passion for the relationship. The couple divorced just nine months after their wedding, but there are rumors that they officially divorced many years later. Arquette, however, denied the allegations.

In an interview with The Telegraph in 2015, Arquette said, “There was a time when we didn’t live together because of fights. But it wasn’t reported, so I didn’t need to explain.” “There was a time when my mother died (she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1997) and I lived with her and took care of her. There was a time when he was at work in the cinema.”

Cage did not wait long to get married again – this time he married Lisa Marie Presley. But two years later, in 2004, the couple divorced, and the relationship was short-lived.

Cage spoke openly about these first marriages, but he said in an interview with The Guardian that he did not think the first two marriages had “disappeared from his history”.

“I think I understood the pressure of a famous name associated with her (Lisa). One of the things I liked about Lisa is that I changed my name – she thought it was the most amazing thing. those two marriages, I don’t think they’re on my record. “For me, the real marriage was with Alice for 14 years and they had a child together,” he told The Guardian.

Cage was referring to his third marriage to Alice Kim, which lasted between 2004 and 2016, the star’s longest marriage to date. According to The Guardian, Cage met Alice, who was working as a waitress, when she was 19 and he was 39. They share one son, Kal-El, who was born in 2005.

Speaking about the marriage, he said, “I made a very clear decision to marry out of my own zip code. I mean, way out of my own zip code. I married into another culture, and it’s interesting because in Korea they call me the Son-in-Law.”

The couple separated in 2016, however, to which Cage said, “It was a shocker for me – I definitely didn’t see it coming…” He also said that he wanted to remain friends with Kim after their split and added, “She was quite young when I married her and I don’t really have any ill will towards what happened. That’s all I’ll say.”

Hollywood stars are known for their short lived marriages, and Cage has joined this exclusive group by having a marriage that reportedly lasted only 4 days with Erika Koike in 2019. PEOPLE reported that Koike is a makeup artist and that she and Cage dated for a year before tying the knot in Las Vegas.

However, he filed for an annulment in 4 days, and claimed that both of them were intoxicated and he “lacked understanding of his actions in marrying [Koike] to the extent that he was incapable of agreeing to the marriage.”

He also added that the marriage needed to be annulled because Koike didn’t inform him of her “criminal history,” including “additional active criminal proceedings,” and even went as far as to request that a judge grant him a divorce if an annulment was not possible.

Cage and his current wife Riko Shibata are 31 years younger than him.

According to The Sun, the movie star announced her engagement to Shibata in 2020 when she appeared on her brother Mark Coppola’s radio show.

“He left New York and returned to Kyoto, Japan. I went back to Nevada and didn’t see him for six months,” he said at the time.

“We are really happy together and we are really happy to spend this time together. And I finally said, “Look, I want to marry you,” and we’re engaged on FaceTime.”
