Seven-year-old Mahiro is undoubtedly one of the most talented children I’ve seen in a long time! She’s an expert in Kanku-Dai, a karate kata with origins in Okinawa, Japan. I definitely wouldn’t want to run into this little one in a dark alley!
Even though it seems like this young martial artist is doing one continuous demonstration, the Kanku-Dai is made of up 65 specific movements performed one after another. Kanku-Dai is a simulation of defense and attack against 8 different attackers, which is why it seems little Mahiro is changing directions and focus – she’s not just attacking one enemy.
The amount of time and discipline it must have taken Mahiro to master the Kanku-Dai is truly admirable. What do you think about her performance? Do you think it’s beautiful, or do you think martial arts is a waste of time for children? Let us know in the comments below!
